Blackpool to Dublin Airport

After the recent decision by Ryanair to axe its route from Dublin Airport to Blackpool, it has been announced that Aer Arann will now take over the route. The news was greeted with delight by the people of Blackpool. Ryanair has decided to withdraw the route in protest against a new £10 tax (airport development fee) on all passengers over 16 flying out of Blackpool.

The route will operate five times a week beginning on January 5th.  A spokesman for Blackpool said that he hoped it would be just the start of many new routes for Blackpool Airport. He added that the route brings many benefits to Blackpool with passengers coming back and forth for weekend breaks.

The chief exec of Blackpool Airport David Kershaw was delighted to welcome Aer Arann on board. He spoke of the hard work that had taken place in order to secure a replacement for Ryanair and his hopes for the growing popularity of the route with his wish for a daily service in years to come.

The CEO of Aer Arann Paul Schutz said that the deal shows Aer Arann’s continuing commitment to offer an excellent service in connecting regional airports. Aer Arann currently operates 40 routes which cover Ireland, the UK and France.
